Selected as a recipient for Arts Council England’s Developing Your Creative Practice Round 13 grant for creatives, allowing me time (and money) to pursue the development and publication of my memoir-in-progress, Landing In Trees, over the next year.

2020


Winner of Southeast Missouri State University Press’s Proud To Be: Writing By American Warriors, Volume 9 anthology photo contest with the black-and-white photograph, “CH-53D Ramp Gunner.”

2017


Selected as one of 150 writers across the United Kingdom (with over 1,700 manuscripts submitted) to attend WriteNow – Bristol, a daylong event organized by Penguin Random House UK that connected 50 writers from diverse backgrounds with literary professionals, including a one-on-one meeting with an editor.

2016


Shortlisted – Highly Commended for the 2016 Yeovil Literary Prize in the Writing Without Restriction category for the mini-graphic novel, The Adventures of Captain Leatherneck in “Unexpected.”

2006


Placed First in the Open Class Division (Dry Media Class, Fantasy Lot) at the 2006 Benton County Fair in Sauk Rapids, MN for drawing, “I Read The Front Page Today.” Medium was graphite pencil and charcoal.

2001


Placed First Premium in the Educational Division Individual Exhibits at the 2001 Minnesota State Fair for drawing, “Tiger.” Medium was colored pencils.
